Miss Mischief

I had to share this with you guys.
Last week, I was having my morning coffee and reading my daily blogs, etc.
Frances was playing in my room, 20 feet away.
I suddenly realized it was mysteriously quiet.

Apparently I didn't hide my purse as well as I thought.

Just an Update

To follow up on my last post... we didn't get the house.  One of the biggest disappointments of my/our life.

I didn't get myself too worked up about it, because I knew what a great house it was.  I knew that someone with a little leeway could offer MUCH more than we did.  And that's exactly what happened.

We offered $2500 over the asking price.  I was still cautious, but my husband said he was so nervous because he figured "We just bought a new house".  Not the case.  We found out from a little bird that some money bags offered $15,000 over the list price.  FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLHAIRS.

We said to ourselves that we'd be ticked if we lost the bid by a measly $500 or $1,000, but if someone offered $10,000 more than us, we might as well say "Just take it".  In a weird way, it made us feel better.

Onward with the house hunt.  Any old Babcia's selling their West Side brick ranch with a decent-sized yard???

PS-  Saint Joseph and I are not on speaking terms.

Come On, St. Joseph!

I really suck at blogging.  (How many of my entries have started that way?  About a dozen, I bet.)
Too busy doing who-knows-what, but I need your help!

We will be putting an offer in on a house this afternoon, and we are crapping our pants.  The house came on the market about 3 days ago and they already have at least two other offers in.  We are offering at least the full asking price, because we love the house THAT much.  We're hoping the other people love it a little bit less.

Now I'm going to get all Catholic on you for a second.

St. Joseph is the patron saint of real estate matters.  So we are praying to him today.  And hoping he helps us out.  If you pray, could you say a quick one for us?  I would appreciate it more than anything.

My mother-in-law passed something on to me that I really loved.

God has three answers to prayers:
1.  Yes
2.  Not yet
3.  I have something better in mind

If this doesn't work out, I'll be okay.  My husband will be heartbroken, but I'll be okay.

We are hoping to have an answer by the end of the day.  If not, I will be having another sleepless night reading The Hunger Games (sooo late on the bandwagon, but sooo good).

Have a fun Friday, guys!

Carnival!

Summer is right around the corner.  How do I know?  Because it is warm enough to have a carnival!

Frannie loved it.
You see that kid kicking and screaming when she has to get off a ride?  Yep.  That would be mine.

Brian and I loved watching her though.

This was the Carousel of Death.  I have never seen a carousel go so fast in my life.  The second day (yes, we went two days in a row) I almost fell off.

Boatski!

My one regret at the carnival:  I didn't get an elephant ear.  Next time.

I can't wait to do more fun things as the weather gets warmer.  Bring it on, Summer!

Our 2009 Jamaican Honeymoon

When Brian and I started planning our honeymoon, it didn't take long for us to choose Jamaica as the locale.  We heard that Negril was a lot of fun, so we thought we'd give it a shot.  We prefer to go through a travel agent, so we're not going in blind.  After researching a few different options, we chose to stay at a Sandals (just call us Michael Scott).  Negril is on the west coast of Jamaica, about an hour (or more, maybe?) from the airport in Montego Bay.  The drive was totally worth it (plus you get to check out the scenery).

I'll spare you the boring details, but our flights had to be rearranged because something was wrong with our first plane.  Instead of being at our resort around noon, this was what our first day "in Jamaica" looked like:

After two of the THEEEE longest layovers ever, we finally arrived in Jamaica around 11 PM.  We were at the hotel after midnight.  It was obviously dark, so we couldn't see how beautiful everything was, but when we woke up the next morning, this is what we found:

The weather was beautiful 95% of the time, but I swear, every day for about an hour, usually in the later afternoon, a quick storm would come through.  I am a nerd for a good storm, so I loved it.  It also gave us a good excuse to sit and relax on the balcony.

We are complete tourists and do things like this:

Say cheese, people!

This boat was so fun!  It had a bar and a water slide off the back.  One of my favorite parts of the trip!

You must visit Rick's Cafe if you go to Negril.  But you don't have to jump off this cliff like my husband did.

The sunsets were the bomb.

Best vacation ever.  I was so sad to come home.  I contemplated running away and never coming back.  The people in Jamaica were super friendly.  Since I don't speak any language other than English, it was nice that I could actually talk to the locals.  I completely understood when a man offered me cocaine on our walk down the beach.  Thanks, but no thanks, mister.  How about a bracelet instead?

They say the shit out of 'Yah, mon" and "Irie", and you can't find a shirt without Bob Marley on it (don't worry, we brought along our 50 Bob Marley shirts, to be extra cheesy).  There was a nudists resort next to ours, which was fun to kayak by.  The atmosphere here is super laid-back.  Go there if you get the chance.

I want to go back.  Tomorrow.
